Interest in combining web applications with the physical universe. Built a smart home system for personal use. Used various sensors and cameras along with a Wi-Fi enabled micro-controller to send information to a web application. Ability to control lights and electronics from the application. Web servers communicate through an API, using REST architecture. A Raspberry PI in conjunction with Nginx is used as a HTTPS proxy which encrypts the data in transfer.
